本院是創於光緒二十七年孟秋，號稱明德堂，暫設於庄內石福添翁宅舍，奉祀玉清三相，立堂即見神靈顯赫，故香火鼎盛。至民國十三年眾議建廟，次年九月擇地興工，由石興、黃黨、石元、石清江、石德富、石明財、石林、石陳川、石長聰、陳枝、陳錄、蔡回、李木、李紅君、李瑞、李石頭等十六戶起造。於民國十五年三月竣工鎮座，合祀北極玄天上帝。並於民國二十四年煆煉新乩石陳川、扶鸞闡教、施方濟世，於次年著作「覺世金篇」善書乙冊，警覺人心，勸善導民。民國五十五年前後殿重整廟觀，由日本明石市石標先生返鄉贊助經費，並捐獻新台幣貳拾萬元做明德堂基金。並於民國五十九年聖示原祀日月潭文武廟三官大帝三尊聖像分發駐鎮本院，至此本廟歷經數十星霜風雨浸蝕，因之眾議重修，時過境遷致有遷建之議，承蒙地方善信人士，虔誠奉獻，無償提供建廟基地，廟址南投縣魚池鄉日月潭毗鄰中明村文正巷背向文武廟松嶺，面映蓮花屏山，穴前明珠朝案，左右沙七曜星環繞，山青水秀，四時花香鳥語、滿月美景地靈鐘秀，適於玄機勝域，因決遷建。成立委員會，公推黃登鳳為主任委員、石長聰、石建仁、石朝圳為副主任委員，田螺塢全庄戶長全部為遷建委員，立即進行遷建。
廟向分金聘請苗栗名師邱智堂先生擇定，自民國六十八年四月動土築基興建，工程進度緩慢，至當年十二月暫用一樓設通真殿先行鎮座。同時尊聖示「宮殿重建堂號改序，即本院發揚之日」神意眾意焚疎叩准改號為「啟示玄機院」。
民國六十九年二月奉迎鹿港天后宮天上聖母分靈，民國七十一年三月奉迎北港天行宮武財神分靈合祀本院。
因靈學家盧勝彥先生評斷本院，靈氣百分率，為神靈八○﹪，地靈六○﹪，人緣二○﹪，並建議增建諸葛孔明先師靈機臥龍亭，則神秘地靈人神合一之象徵，仰望本院靈應玄機啟示於世。
民國七十年四月孔明先師立像動土，塑像高三十尺，同年七月十八日開光，是時靈光顯赫，像前光芒四射，真是蒼穹奇景，自此以後，本院聖卦靈驗非常，無不稱奇，可謂玄機妙理之真驗也。
民國七十四年十二月全廟遷建完成，並舉行慶成謝土大典。
The origin of Qi-Shi Xuan-Ji Temple
The temple was built on Guang Xu period, it was named as Ming de tong, settled up in Zhuang Nei house, where worshipped Taoist trinity, when the Ming de tong was built, there are lots of people coming, In 1924, believers suggested to build up a temple, and the construction had begun on September, in 1923. Here is the list of people for constructing the temple, they were Shih-Sing, Huang Dang, Shih-Yuan, Shih-Cing-Jiang, Shih-de-fu, Shih-Ming-Cai,Shih-Lin,Shih-Cheng-Chuan,Shih-Chang-Cong, Cheng-Jhih, Cheng-Lu, Cai-huei, Li-Mu, Li-Hong-Jyun, Li-Ruei, Li-Shih-Tou.
On March, in 1926 the construction was announced to be finished, and worshipped Xuan Wu God. In 1935 there was a Tongji(spirit medium) Shih-Chen-Chuan who did the Fuji( a method of “planchette writing, automatic writing, using a suspended sieve or tray to guide a stick which writes Chinese characters in sand or incense ashes.) The following year Shih-Chen-Chuan published a book: Jyue-Shih golden chapter, the purpose of the publishement is to awaken the good side of people’s hearts, and encourage people’s good behaviors. In 1966 the front and back hall were rebuilt, supported by Shih-biao at Japan, Akashi city, and he donated two hundred thousand NT as the fund for Ming-De Tong. In 1960, Wen Wu temple was situated at Sun-Moon Lake, and there were San-Guan-Da-Di set in this palace, this palace experienced difficulties for many years, because of this, the committee decided to rebuild the palace, by the time there were lots of believers donated the money and contributed to help. The base of funding the palace was Nantou Yuchih township, Qi-Shi Xuan-Ji temple where was located near Jhong-Ming village, Wun-Jheng Lane, and faced the mountains, the views are quiet and beautiful, birds sing and flowers radiate fragrance, the beautiful scene were vivid, so the committee decided to move the palace. And constructed a committee board, Huang-Deng-Fong was the committee member, Shih-Chang-Cong, Shih-Jian-Ren, Tian-Luo-Wu village head of household is the rebuilding committee.
The committee hired Ciou-Jhih-Tang managed the reconstruction of the temple, the project went slow, in December the palace’s location was set up in the first floor, in the mean time the rebuilding of palace had begun, by the divine will, the palace had its name: Qi-Shi Xuan-Ji Temple.
In February, A.C. 1980, Mazu (goddess) had been moved into the temple, also in March, 1982, Guan Yu (goddess) also moved into the temple.
The spirit scientist Lu-Sheng-Yan make judgment to the temple that it is a spiritual place, contains deities 80%, earth deities 60%, human relations 20%, also suggest building up Conming pavilion in the palace, then the mystery of the deities and humans combines together for looking up at this palace’s beauty.
In 1971, April, the status of Conming had started to build, the height of the status was 30 feet, the ceremony of consecration began at the same year, July, 18th the spirit was great and full of bright lights in front of the status. When the consecration proceeded, from this moment on, the saint ancient divination symbol are efficacious and powerful, the meanings of the ancient divination symbol are the truth for everyone.
In 1985, December, the temple had announced to finish the project, also hold a thanks to the earth grand ceremony (Xie Tu).
